Yamila Velázquez (Las Tunas, Cuba, 1993) is a contemporary artist who uses digital intelligence tools; she currently lives and works in Alicante, Spain. Owner and partner of a company dedicated to the sale, representation, and development of artists and artworks, Velázquez combines her business vision with a deep artistic sensibility.
This young Cuban talent has established herself in the field of digital art, using contemporary media to explore themes related to nature, landscape, and the intimate relationship between woman and her environment. This work is presented as a diptych, juxtaposing two of the most iconic and recognizable figures of Japanese pop culture: Pikachu and Sonic The Hedgehog. Both are depicted with the blue-and-white Chinese porcelain aesthetic, creating an exquisite tension between cultural traditions. The simulated, crackled, and delicate material contrasts with the dynamic and energetic nature of the characters.

The artist applies Kintsugi in an integral way: the cracks that traverse the porcelain are sealed and enhanced with liquid gold, creating a vein-like pattern that endows the figures with a shared story of reconstruction.
