Description from the seller
Normunds Braslins – Oil on canvas – « Divas Masas » – 1990 – Signed – Latvian artist
Original oil on canvas by Normunds Braslins (born in 1962), contemporary Latvian figurative artist born in Riga.
This painting is signed and dated 1990 and bears the title Divas Masas (“Two Sisters”), inscribed on the back of the canvas on the frame.
The composition depicts two female figures in an intimate, dreamlike atmosphere. The work is particularly interesting for its minimalist composition and its monochrome pink palette, which stands out from the more colorful and detailed works by the artist that are encountered most often on the market. This very soft color harmony gives the painting an elegant and distinctive presence.
This work seems to belong to an earlier period in the artist’s career, at the end of the 1980s / beginning of the 1990s, a time when many Baltic artists were developing their personal style in a context of profound cultural change.
