Rafa López, Warp Zone Mario Into the Pop, a mixed‑media sculpture on wood (22 cm high × 15 cm wide × 10 cm deep), hand-signed, from Spain, in excellent condition, with a certificate of authenticity.
Description from the seller
In "Warp Zone Mario Into the Pop," Rafa López pays homage to one of the most iconic symbols of video game culture, decontextualizing it to elevate it to the level of an artistic object. The famous "pipe" detaches from its digital surroundings to materialize as a sculpture that plays with geometry and collective nostalgia under the Pop Surrealism aesthetic.
Análisis de la obra:
The sculpture presents itself as a contemporary totem that synthesizes the essence of the Super Mario universe. Through a wooden structure that leans toward verticality and formal simplicity, López applies his characteristic neo-expressionist language. The vertical stripes in different shades of green not only respect the original palette of the icon, but also add a visual vibration that simulates volume and texture.
The markings in black marker—circles, lines, and dots—are fundamental in this piece; they act as a "skin" that humanizes the industrial and digital object, giving it that manual and organic character inherent to the artist. The work functions as a bridge between mass popular culture and contemporary art, transforming a transitional element from the video game into an ultimate prize for the collector.
Técnica y detalles:
This is a mixed media piece on wood measuring 22x15x10 cm. The execution stands out for the cleanliness of its color fields and the precision of the stroke. The choice of the natural wooden base is not casual; it emphasizes the tangibility of the work and creates an interesting dialogue between the material’s natural quality and the technological/virtual subject depicted.
Logística y envío:
The work is delivered assembled on its original wooden base.
It is packaged with bubble wrap and a high-protection cardboard box.
