Description from the seller
CONCEPT OPERA:
What a quiet, ancient, and sincere gaze tells a story of mud and thought.
The Mondina was her craft, among the dawn rice fields, a sun to fear.
Long ago girls already worked, with small hands, but already they bent.
It would have been better to run and play, than to spend time among the stalks.
Better to laugh loudly, without pain, to be with parents, seeking warmth,
to stay a little longer to be loved, not grow up quickly, but wait slowly.
But this was the world, this was her path...

NOTIZIE SULL'ARTISTA
Laura Muolo, born in 1975, a Milan native and a Rimini resident by adoption. She approaches art as a self-taught artist since 2013. Her starting medium is graphite, through which she immediately seeks the realism of faces, later turning to other media such as pastels and painting.
She participates in many group exhibitions across Italy and internationally, and her works are also shown in important Italian museums. Her works are part of several private collections worldwide. Four solo exhibitions to date. She has collaborated on the realization of a poetry book cover in 2015 and for the cover of a philosophy book in 2023.
Winner and finalist in several artistic competitions, at national and international levels.
Laura describes her work thus: “I prefer oil painting for its reflective nature: it allows me to build the image step by step, changing, smoothing, perfecting. Sometimes I use pastels on cardboard to capture the subject’s essence quickly, in a direct and instinctive way. My style is realistic, but my painting tells inner worlds, hidden emotions, and stories to decipher.
My works move between dreamlike landscapes and figures immersed in their thoughts, accompanied by shadows that reveal what is not seen: desires, fears, memories. Each scene begins from photographs of young subjects and takes shape through symbols, objects, and animals that give voice to a memory or a deep feeling. Painting, for me, is a journey into the dimension of the unspoken.”
Laura collaborates with the Ranarossa galleries of Modena and LoyeloArtGallery of Volterra
