Description from the seller
LUARCA is a 70x100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. This work is an open window to the luminous memory of the north, where the interior becomes a viewpoint and the landscape an emotional destination.
The scene is built from within: an intimate, warm space, inhabited by plants and light, that opens outward through a large arch. The doors, fully open, not only let in light, but dissolve the boundary between interior and landscape. Beyond, the town unfolds in layers of color: soft facades, reddish roofs, and the blue of the sea blending with the green mountains. Everything appears slightly idealized, as if it were not a specific place, but the memory of a place.
In the foreground, the red armchair introduces a human presence without showing it. It is a gesture of pause, of contemplation. A place from which to look, where to stop. Its vibrant color dialogues with the warmth of the curtains and contrasts with the cool tones of the exterior, anchoring the scene in the present of the interior. The composition guides the gaze toward the horizon, but always returns it to the inhabited space. It is a balance between desire and permanence: to go out or to stay, to look or to inhabit.
Luarca is not only a view, but an experience of openness. A painting about the pleasure of leaning out into the world from a place of one’s own, where light, landscape, and silence meet.
