Description from the seller
LOS GUARDIANES is a 70x100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. In this work, the domestic scene is transformed into a small theater of silent tension, where the everyday takes on an almost symbolic nuance.
Two figures —firm, elegant, facing each other— occupy the center of the composition. Their upright posture and their cross gaze turn the moment into something more than a simple encounter: there is vigilance, silent dialogue, even strategy. The chessboard between them reinforces this idea, introducing a narrative of play, intelligence, and anticipation. The space around them, far from neutral, intensifies the scene. The vibrant colors —pinks, greens, yellows— create a sophisticated yet charged atmosphere, almost scenographic. Everything seems arranged to underscore the presence of the protagonists.
The lamp, the vases with flowers, the sofa and the armchair are not mere decorative elements: they provide balance, rhythm, and a counterpoint of calm against the central tension. They are silent witnesses to that encounter. There is in the work a constant play between the playful and the solemn. What might seem like a light domestic scene becomes an allegory of control, observation, and the bond between two presences that recognize and measure each other.
Los Guardianes is, in essence, a painting about quiet vigilance: that moment when everything seems to be still, but something —invisible— is at stake.
