Description from the seller
New Series – Masterpieces Reimagined
David Law
Photographer-Artist – Creator of Contemporary Images
Multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first became known for a series devoted to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Subsequently drawn to the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Masterpieces Reimagined
Since 2022, David Law has developed a new corpus of works based on artistic photomosaic and contemporary digital composition. Each creation is crafted from a multitude of micro-visual fragments generated using current graphic tools, then selected, structured and meticulously recombined by the artist. This series revisits some of the most famous paintings in art history through a contemporary visual approach. The aim of this series is to create a dialogue between artistic heritage and present visual culture. This process allows for a renewed vision of the painting, positioned at the intersection between artistic homage and contemporary interpretation.
Edition & Fabrication
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies plus 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with a built-in rear mounting. Printing on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with soft UV- and moisture-resistant lamination, ensuring excellent durability, long-term color stability and a modern, contemporary look.
Background / Parcours
Since 2014, David Law has participated in around twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the designated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. In parallel with his visual work, he develops an authorial and musician career including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
