Description from the seller
Thermally formed polyamide, four-layer metallic finish, painted on a PVC board with iron mica, weatherproof.
Hellmut Stauffer, born in 1954, is a contemporary German artist known for his innovative PipeArt sculptures. His journey into the world of PipeArt began when he transformed a long-standing concept into a physical work: a wall sculpture made of PVC conduit pipes, reshaped with mechanical and thermal methods before coating the structure with iron mica paint. This first creation marked a turning point and unleashed an unstoppable creative process in him.
Stauffer was fascinated by the versatility of PVC, especially in the form of pipes, and began to explore its potential through mechanical, thermal and chemical processes that impart it properties reminiscent of metals such as steel, copper and bronze. This experimental approach led to the birth of PipeArt – a style that breathes new life into ordinary materials and transforms the humble PVC pipe into vibrant and sophisticated works of art. By layering colors, minerals and textures, Stauffer expands the artistic possibilities of PipeArt, and each project inspires many more.
Stauffer's works elevate PVC beyond its industrial origins and free it from the 'dust of everyday life' to reveal striking forms that captivate the viewer. His meticulous craftsmanship shows how technical skill can transform simple materials into art that is accessible, colorful and captivating. With PipeArt he aims to offer a lively, accessible experience and invite the viewer to see beauty in the unexpected.
With the submitted work, Stauffer expands his PipeArt technique to another material, polyamide, which is thermally heated in chip form and fused into a wide variety of shapes. This premiere piece is a special feature. The series will continue.
