William Weege (1935–2023) was an American artist and educator, known for an experimental practice that unites printing, textiles, and the applied arts.
Active since the 1960s, he developed an interdisciplinary language, working with fibers, synthetic materials, and innovative printing techniques, contributing significantly to the birth and diffusion of fiber art in the United States.
He taught for a long time at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, influencing generations of artists with an open approach to the contamination between art, design, and craft. His research stands out for its attention to processes and materials, as well as for an experimental and unconventional aesthetic.
