Olivetti M200, 1988, in near-new condition and in working order, with a NEC V40 processor, 640 KB RAM, integrated monochrome monitor, two 3.5
Description from the seller
Rare Olivetti M200 specimen in excellent condition and perfectly functional. The product features plastics free of scratches and not yellowed, an extremely rare factor for an M200 nearly 40 years old. Released in 1988, the Olivetti M200 represents the younger brother of the more famous M24.
The PC passes the main BIOS checks. The processor is a NEC V40 (uPD70208), an excellent variant of the 8088/8086, faster and higher performing.
- RAM: 640 KB (tested and functional);
- Monitor: Integrated monochrome, sharp phosphors, excellent geometry and brightness;
- Drive: Dual 3.5" floppy drives (tested and boot functional);
- Diagnostics: The system passes the Resident Diagnostics (as shown in the photo).
The unit includes its original keyboard, characterized by excellent preservation and non-yellowed plastics. Italian layout and perfectly functioning. The keyboard also includes the rare rigid plastic cover, yellowed but in excellent condition.
The only flaw concerns the outer coating of the spiral keyboard cable, which, due to age, shows casing flaking (a typical chemical defect of the original material and visible on other Olivetti keyboards of the same era). However, the cable is electrically intact and the keyboard responds correctly to commands. See photo.
Kept in a dry, dust-free place, note the final images relating to the internal condition of the monitor where the absence of dust and dirt is evident.
An iconic and unmissable item. Extremely hard to find, especially in such preservation. For enthusiasts, collectors, and fans of Olivetti machines.
