Lisbet Cuellar, Vulnerable, oil painting on canvas, Original, 55 x 46 cm, 2026, Spain, sold directly by the artist, hand-signed, in excellent condition, a contemporary portrait of a male figure.
Description from the seller
Oil on canvas
Measurements: 55 x 46 cm
This work presents a male figure in a posture of intense introspection and vulnerability. The gesture —with the hand partially covering the face— suggests an internal conflict, a tension between the exposure of the body and the concealment of identity.
The treatment of color is especially noteworthy: the skin is built through a vibrant palette of pinks, greens and yellows that break with traditional realism and bring an almost electric emotional dimension. The monochromatic violet background reinforces the sculptural presence of the body, isolating it in a psychological space more than a physical one.
The brushwork, soft yet deliberate, models volume with a contemporary sensibility, while the composition emphasizes the curved line of the torso, creating a sense of restrained movement.
Overall, the work dialogues with themes such as identity, masculine fragility and the tension between the intimate and the visible, becoming a deeply evocative and current piece.
Artist Lisbet Cuellar with a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Art in the Scenic Design profile, at the ISA (Instituto Superior de Arte), Cuba
Other studies: introductory course in Plastic Arts, Experimental Center of Visual Arts "Antonio Díaz Peláez", Havana, Cuba
