Ans Markus – Without title – Signed serigraph (199/200) – c. 1990–2005
Description
Ans Markus (born 1947) is a Dutch artist, known for her distinctive, figurative depictions of women with a strong symbolic charge.
Strong and readily recognizable serigraph, executed in her characteristic visual language.
This stylized portrait of a woman with blindfolded eyes balances between vulnerability and strength and has a clear symbolic charge.
The work is figurative in conception, but the simplified forms and the disorienting blindfold create a subtle surreal effect.
It is precisely this combination that makes the work intriguing and beloved by a broad audience.
The serigraph is hand-signed bottom right and numbered bottom left (199/200), originating from a limited edition.
The relatively small image size provides an intimate, concentrated viewing experience, while the generous mat lends the work calmness and presentation power.
Dating: circa 1990–2005 (based on style, technique and edition usage within the artist's oeuvre). Delivered unframed.
Condition
Good condition, with light signs of use appropriate to age. No obstructive damage visible.
Dimensions
Image: approx. 11 x 15 cm. Including mat: approx. 40 x 30 cm.
Technique
Serigraphy (screenprint) on paper, hand-signed and numbered (199/200).
Shipping
Carefully packaged and shipped with tracking.
