Lucebert, a Dutch artist, presents this ink drawing Roi de la nuit from 1963 in Cobra style, an original edition, hand-signed and dated, 20 by 30 cm, origin Netherlands, in good condition, sold by Galerie.
Description from the seller
Lucebert, born as Lubertus Jacobus Swaanswijk in Amsterdam, was a leading Dutch poet, painter and graphic artist. He was a central figure within the Vijftigers and closely connected with the COBRA movement.
His visual work is characterized by expressive, often mythical figures, spontaneous lines and bold colors, while his poetry emphasizes freedom, vulnerability and resistance to convention. The famous motto “Alles van waarde is weerloos” aptly sums up his vision. Lucebert received several prizes and his work is represented in museums such as the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. He is regarded as one of the most influential artists and poets of post-war Netherlands.
In this ink drawing he depicts the king of the night. The work is signed and dated.
