Description from the seller

Umberto Mariani (1936) - Red
Digital print, 106x92 cm. - Hand-signed - Studio D Milano - 30 copies.
The large-format work, pulled in 30 copies, was produced in close collaboration with the artist on special paper from Studio D - Via Mecenate 76 Milano 20138 -

From 1990, Mariani, starting from the beloved theme of drapery, provides in Piombi a stylized and geometrized idea of this subject. The drapery loses any veristic form, crystallizes into straight lines that aim to affirm a more idealistic, more symbolic vision. In July 2011 the exhibition Le vesti di Saturno is hosted in the prestigious halls of Galleria Medici in Palazzo Medici-Riccardi in Florence. The solo show Opere recenti-Piombi takes place in March-April 2013 in the Baroque spaces of Sala San Ignazio in Arezzo. In October 2013, in the Cloisters of San Domenico in Reggio Emilia, the retrospective Umberto Mariani-Opere 1967-2013 (catalogue Allemandi) is held. In the same month Opera Gallery, present with its 12 locations on five continents, signs an exclusive contract with the artist and plans exhibitions of Mariani in Paris, New York and Hong Kong. The Art Fairs of Reggio Emilia and Parma host his solo exhibitions in October 2014 and January 2015 respectively. In September 2015, a large environmental work entitled Pluto and Dionysus—Homages to Dag Hammarskjöld, an ode to Peace, was exhibited in the halls of the Museo delle pitture murali in Prato.
