A great Dutch master of the arts who, unfortunately, died at only 31 years of age. His entire oeuvre, created between 1907 and 1918, comprises about 150 paintings, mostly in small formats, around 100 drawings, and more than 40 sheets of graphic art, mainly etchings and woodcuts.

Jan Mankes has entered art history as “Holland’s most tranquil painter.” He died young of tuberculosis, something that contributed to the myth-making surrounding his artistry.
