Artist biography: Nguyen Robert (1958).
Born in 1958 in Bến Tre, an authentic village nestled in the heart of the Mekong Delta, Nguyen Robert is a Franco-Vietnamese artist whose work stands out for a singular fusion of Asian traditions and Western artistic influences. From a young age, he has been fascinated by the rural architecture of his surroundings, the lines of traditional houses, the volumes of floating markets, the shadows cast by water palms — elements that would become the foundation of his visual language.
Having always lived in his homeland region, Nguyen Robert developed, over the decades, a deeply contemporary, modern, and decisively architectural style. His paintings explore structures, lines, urban rhythms, and geometric abstraction, while preserving a poetic sensitivity inherent to Vietnamese culture.
His dual heritage, Franco-Vietnamese, enriches his approach: he borrows from the West the rigor of modern compositions and the boldness of contrasts, while his Vietnamese soul imparts softness, spirituality, and fluidity to his works. The result is a pictorial universe where modernity meets the timeless, where geometry dialogues with light, creating powerful visually striking paintings.
Renowned for his ability to transform the everyday into abstract landscapes, Nguyen Robert is today regarded as one of the singular voices in contemporary Delta Mekong painting. He continues his work in his studio in Bến Tre, surrounded by the landscapes that shaped his identity, and continues to exhibit in several galleries in Asia and Europe, captivating collectors and art lovers seeking deeply modern, structured, and vibrant works."} } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } }
