Pietro Colmellere (1997) presents Afra, a unique walnut wood sculpture (45 × 30 × 25 cm, 7.2 kg) carved by hand, signed, in excellent condition with a certificate of authenticity issued by the artist.
Description from the seller
Afra
A face that emerges from the material like a memory surfacing. Afra is a female bust carved from a walnut trunk, deliberately broken, fragmented, almost unfinished.
The face is rendered with surprising delicacy: closed eyes, the chin slightly raised, an expression suspended between introspection and revelation. In contrast, the head explodes into a mass of natural wood, as if Afra’s thoughts could not be contained by any sharp form.
At the neck, a golden element — a direct reference to tribal adornment, an ancient and primordial jewel — the only element that burns with warmth in the cool tones of the figure.
Pietro Colmellere, sculptor born in 1997, builds a powerful dialogue between archetype and contemporaneity: the tradition of tribal art filtered through a modern sculptural sensibility that lets the material speak without having to domesticate it completely.
