AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

MADRID is a 70 x 100 cm painting by Flavia Delgado that pays homage to the symbolic and cultural strength of Spanish tradition through a contemporary graphic gaze.

The scene captures the moment of maximum tension between the bullfighter and the bull, a suspended moment where gesture and movement become choreography. Beyond the bullfighting narrative, the image functions as a symbol of confrontation, dominance, and balance between opposing forces.

The architectural background, inspired by the bullring, places the scene in a recognizable context, while the simplification of forms and the bold black line transform the representation into a visual icon.

The palette, dominated by intense reds, deep blues, and warm tones, reinforces the drama of the composition and connects with the popular imagination of classic poster art.

MADRID is not just a scene, but a visual synthesis of identity, tradition, and contained emotion, reinterpreted from a pop and contemporary language.

Seller's Story

I present a pictorial work line strongly linked to illustration and artistic poster design. My works combine the language of classic poster art with the plastic freedom of contemporary painting: flat colors, defined contours, direct scenes, and a clear narrative sense. My work dialogues with the tradition of 20th-century poster art, especially with the universe of Art Deco and European and North American advertising posters, where authors like A. M.. Cassandre, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Leonetto Cappiello used synthetic imagery and color for visual impact. There are also affinities with European comic graphics and the clear line, from Hergé to modern editorial illustration. In my paintings, I depict interiors, architectures, figures, and travel scenes—such as roads, vintage cars, or landscapes—approached from a graphic perspective reminiscent of posters and illustrated books, but transferred to the realm of painting on paper and canvas. I aim for each image to function like a frame or a narrative poster, capable of suggesting a broader story without needing to explain it.
