Kuno Schiefer (Stuttgart, 1948 – São José dos Campos, 1992) was a German painter and graphic artist who spent most of his life working in Brazil. His oeuvre includes paintings, drawings, and graphics, with his Brazilian period notably characterized by influences from tropical nature and the landscape. His work was noticed early and exhibited in leading galleries in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. From 1985 he alternated between Brazil and Berlin, which had a significant influence on his artistic development.
In his work Schiefer developed from figurative depictions of everyday objects to expressive, often abstract interpretations of vegetation and nature. His paintings are characterized by intense colors, a strong sense of light and a nearly musical rhythm in composition and brushwork. Through the interplay between Europe and Brazil, a personal visual language emerged, in which he gradually freed himself from figuration and arrived at a more introspective and free painting.
Viewing is, of course, possible. In addition, we have our own in-house picture-framing workshop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary year. Furthermore we make use of restorers from the industry association: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you would like to make use of this service, of course we would be happy to hear from you.
