Anton Heyboer, Can-Can-danseres, signed, in good condition, 31 × 22 cm framed (29 × 20 cm unframed), Netherlands, Cobra style, original edition, period 1970–1980, technique chalk on paper.
Description from the seller
Anton Heyboer’s Can-Can dancers are usually made with chalk or pastels on paper. He worked quickly and intuitively, with rough lines and strong colors, making movement and energy more important than detail. The technique suits the subject: freedom, rhythm and physicality.
Anton Heyboer (1924-2005)
Due to his unusual lifestyle, Anton Heyboer belonged to the most eccentric Dutch artists of the past decades. His turbulent life was reflected in five marriages. He also described himself as 'the Robin Hood of the art world', referring to his high output of art. Heyboer was trained as a mechanical engineer. After World War II he began drawing, albeit still in a traditional style. Between 1954 and 1957 he developed his own philosophical framework on which his abstract works were based. Yet figurative elements always remain present in his paintings and etchings. He also clarified the themes of his work with texts, in which human relationships often play a role.
Framed dimensions: 31 x 22 cm
Unframed dimensions: 29 x 20 cm
Framed work.
Viewing is of course possible. In addition, we have our own in-house framing workshop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary. We also use restorers from the trade association: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you would like to make use of this service, of course we would be happy to hear from you.
