In the 1970s Gijsbert Hanekroot worked as a freelance photographer based in Amsterdam where he had a studio (Berenstraat 18). His main assignment was bi-weekly music paper Muziekkrant Oor (Ear), but he also worked for daily newspapers and magazines. He did concerts, interviews, press receptions and studio shoots. Those were the golden years of rock music where the big names made their first and second albums, working hard to break through.

Recently Gijsbert's photos were shown in exhibitions in, among others, Paris, London, Moscow, Tokyo, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, Belgrade and Amsterdam. He also published several books.
