Description from the seller
Marius Ledda (1880–1965). Landscape with a pond.
An attractive landscape composition representing a natural scene with a wetland area or pond in the foreground, articulated through a horizontal arrangement of planes that direct the eye toward a hill in the background, crowned by buildings and vegetation.
The work is characterized by a loose and confident brushwork, with a chromatic construction based on ranges of greens, ochres and violets, shaded by luminous reflections on the water surface. The treatment of the landscape responds to a synthetic and atmospheric interpretation, where the capture of light and the vibrancy of color prevail over descriptive detail.
The water, resolved with horizontal brushstrokes and fragmented reflections, introduces depth and dynamism, while the elevated area in the background contributes compositional balance. The whole is framed within a post-Impressionist sensibility, typical of French painting from the early 20th century.
The work is presented signed and accompanied by an identification plaque in the frame with the inscription “Rome 1912,” which suggests its possible execution or chronological reference in that context.
It is housed with a wooden frame and protected by a front glass.
The conservation state is generally good, showing minor losses and wear to the paint layer, consistent with its age, without compromising the reading or stability of the work. The prepared cardboard support is stable.
The frame shows wear and signs of use typical of the passing of time. The protective glass limits direct observation of the painting surface.
It is recommended to examine the images closely, which are an essential part of the description.
