Mark Kostabi – Evolution – 1997/98 – Signed and numbered screenprint 84/100 – Special edition Motorola StarTAC – “The Colors of Sound”
⸻
Description
Original signed screenprint by the American artist Mark Kostabi, created between 1997 and 1998 as part of the project “The Colors of Sound,” an artistic initiative developed for the launch of the Motorola StarTAC, one of the most iconic devices of 1990s technology.
The work, titled Evolution, is part of a limited edition of 100 copies. The piece for sale is number 84/100, hand-signed and dated 1998.
This is a corporate special edition, not a generic print, created within a collaboration between contemporary art and the tech industry, in which twelve artists were invited to interpret the theme of communication and evolution.
The image features elements typical of Kostabi’s visual language, with a stylized figure lacking a defined identity, symbolic construction, and intense colors. The presence of the telephone places the work in a precise context related to changes in communication in the 1990s.
