Description from the seller

František Dostál (July 21, 1938, Prague – December 5, 2022) was a Czech reportage and documentary photographer living in Prague. His most famous collection is Summer People, which he created between 1968 and 1990 in Zlenice on the Sázava River. The subjects of his work in the last thirty years have mainly been people on the streets of Prague. In 1989, Elliott Erwitt expressed his admiration for Dostal’s work in a letter and noted they both shared a certain “photographic attitude.” Dostal’s lyric and wry observations of Soviet-era life in Prague are cleverly documented in his photographs.
