Venezia, an oil on panel painting by Mario Maresca Serra (Italy, 1912–1991), dated 1935, in the 1930s Expressionism style, measuring 45 × 40 cm, sold with a frame.

Mario Maresca Serra
Mario Maresca Serra was born on January 25, 1912 in Naples, where he resided on Viale dei Pini. He began painting as a boy and continued throughout his life. He studied under Mario Borgoni and Giuseppe Giardiello. In 1933 he held a solo exhibition in Bari, where he enjoyed enormous public and official acclaim. In 1934 he again held a solo exhibition in Rome, at the Galleria Angelelli, on Via del Babuino, where his works elicited the same great enthusiasm as in Bari. On that occasion His Majesty King Vittorio Emanuele III purchased one of his paintings entitled “Marina.” Subsequently in 1935, ’36 and ’37 he held solo exhibitions in Calabria and Sicily. His works are featured in several public and private galleries in Italy and abroad, and in some galleries in Paris, London and New York.
