Description from the seller
Rare Solid 800 Silver Table Lighter - Handcrafted - 117g (silver only)
Elegant and imposing vintage desk lighter in solid silver, featuring a clean and essential design typical of Italian/European mid-century design.
The item stands out for the exceptional thickness of the silver sheet, with a weight of the shell alone (excluding the mechanism) of no less than 117 grams, a detail that attests to the extremely high build quality and intrinsic value of the metal.
• Material: Solid silver (stamped on the bottom).
• Silver weight (net): 117 grams.
• Total weight (with mechanism): Approximately 145-150 grams.
• Design: Rectangular shape with chamfered corners, smooth shiny surfaces, and a central circular medallion, ideal for personalized engravings.
• Conditions: Excellent structural condition, no dents or scratches. Presents a natural oxidation patina that guarantees the authenticity of the metal and can be mirror-polished according to the buyer's preferences. Removable mechanism present (to test/reload).
Epoch and Style:
Period: about 1940 - 1955 (Mid-Century).
Style: Late Art Deco / Modernist. The visible hallmarks (lozenge or small ovals) suggest Italian production in the post-war period, an era in which these objects were symbols of social status in the homes of the upper bourgeoisie.
"Prestigious Provenance": The object comes directly from the private collection of a historic shipowning family. This lighter was part of the representative furnishings, reflecting the status and elegance of elite maritime interiors of the mid-20th century.
