Here the title – Trouble – refers both to an ambiguous emotion (a warm tree for some, frightening or even chaotic for others… the feeling of being unsettled and projecting this psychological state onto what is seen) and to the painterly treatment (an almost indistinct shape in the night, strangely lit by a streetlamp).

This 2020 painting inaugurates a whole body of work dedicated to the theme of the tree, which would later continue with forests.
