Description from the seller
Arnaldo Pomodoro was born in Montefeltro in 1926, and spent his childhood and training in Pesaro. Since 1954 he has lived and worked in Milan. His works from the Fifties are bas-reliefs in which a very singular, unprecedented 'writing' in sculpture emerges, interpreted in various ways by the major critics. In the early Sixties, he tackles three-dimensionality and develops research into the forms of solid geometry: spheres, disks, pyramids, cones, columns, cubes — in polished bronze — that are pierced, corroded, hollowed at their core, with the aim of breaking their perfection and revealing the mystery enclosed within. The formal contrast between the smooth perfection of the geometric form and the chaotic complexity of the interior will henceforth be a constant in Pomodoro's production.
Emblematic and very rare work by the master, the visual and technical quality employed for the piece is of exceptional level.
The edition number might not correspond to the number shown in the photograph.
The provenance of the work is from Grafica Manzoni Gallery, which issues its certificate of authenticity.
