A fountain pen in precious resin with a black celluloid cap, model 242 Gray Striated, gold‑plated trim and a 14K gold nib, made in Germany in the mid‑20th century, in good used condition with a functioning piston filling system.
Description from the seller
A0000004667
The pen presents a very good overall condition for its age, notably preserving its original aesthetics and functionality. The body in striated gray cellulose acetate maintains a good definition of the longitudinal lines, with a transparency still visible in the ink window, which allows proper appreciation of the ink level. Slight surface marks from use and the passage of time are observed, without affecting the integrity of the material or its visual appeal.
The cap, in black cellulose acetate, is in good structural condition, with normal signs of use such as micro-scratches and slight wear in the areas most handled. The metal elements gold-plated (clip and rings) maintain a good presence, with possible light wear of the plating in specific points, something typical in pieces from this period.
The piston-filling system has been serviced and works correctly, ensuring smooth and safe loading. The pen is delivered fully operational. The 14K gold nib offers smooth and consistent writing, potentially showing a slight variation in stroke characteristic of these vintage models.
No relevant structural cracks are observed, which is especially important in cellulose acetate pieces of this age. Overall, it is a well-preserved, functional item ready for use or collection.
Conservation recommendations
It is recommended to use high-quality inks specifically for fountain pens, avoiding pigmented inks. If not used for a long period, clean with lukewarm water, dry completely before storing and keep in a dry place, away from direct light and extreme temperatures. Operate the filling mechanism gently to preserve the mechanism.
It will be shipped in a courtesy box for proper conservation. Happy bidding!
