Description from the seller
Philippe Kerlo is a French photographer and artist known for his powerful, stylized portraits and fashion photography. His work moves at the intersection of art, beauty, and visual seduction, often playing with contrast, sensuality and identity. Kerlo’s images are carefully staged and recognizable for their refined use of light, perfect framing, and an almost sculptural approach to the human body.
This work shows an extremely enlarged close-up of a mouth, with the lips dominating the entire frame. The presentation is in black and white, so the emphasis rests entirely on light and texture. The surface of the lips is highly detailed: the shine, cracks and skin textures become almost sculptural, giving the image a tactile, physical intensity.
This photograph is presented on a canvas panel.
Dimensions with frame: 78 x 168 cm
Dimensions without frame: 49 x 139 cm
Viewing is, of course, possible. In addition, we have our own in-house framing workshop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary. We also work with restorers from the professional association: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you would like to take advantage of this, please let us know.
