ARTIST BIOGRAPHY:
Juan Carlos Bellido was born in 1942 in Seville, Spain. From a young age he showed a deep passion for painting, especially still lifes, which he balanced with his studies in Fine Arts at the prestigious School of Arts and Trades of Seville during the 1960s. His dedication and patience led him to specialize in hyperrealism, a style he refined over the 1970s, notable for its photographic precision and masterful handling of light and shadows that give his still lifes an almost palpable realism.
During his career, Juan Carlos Bellido became a leading figure of hyperrealist still life in Spain, depicting everyday objects—fruits, kitchen utensils, dried flowers—with a richness of detail that invites contemplation and wonder. His work reflects a meticulous study of textures and surfaces, mainly working in oil on canvas.
Solo and group exhibitions in galleries in Seville, Madrid and Barcelona solidified his reputation, and his works were acquired by private collectors as well as institutions. Over the years, Bellido combined his artistic work with teaching, transmitting his passion and technique to new generations of painters.
Today, Juan Carlos Bellido is recognized as a key figure of contemporary Spanish realism, whose work continues to inspire artists and art lovers with its ability to transform the everyday into something extraordinary through painting.
