Jan Mankes, 4 Muizen, an original heliogravure printed in 1923 and published by his wife A. Zernike-Mankes and Roland Holst, in a limited edition, framed with a cream passe-partout, in good condition, depicting animals, gravure technique, image size 18.5 x 13.5 cm within a 32 x 23 cm frame.

Dimensions of heliogravure: 18.5 h. x 13.5 w. cm.
The heliogravure was printed and published in 1923 by his wife. A. Zernike-Mankes and Roland Holst.

The engraving is in excellent condition and is supplied with a matching cream-colored mat in the frame shown.
A great Dutch master artist who unfortunately died at the age of 31. His entire oeuvre, created between 1907 and 1918, comprises about 150 paintings, mostly small formats, around 100 drawings and over 40 sheets of graphic art, mainly etchings and woodcuts.
Jan Mankes entered art history as “Holland’s most tranquil painter.” He died young of tuberculosis, something that contributed to the myth-making around his artistry.
