AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

This series of portraits features people who surely remind us of someone or suggest situations we have seen or lived through. She seems bored, without ideas, without anticipation for what comes next. We can imagine where she comes from, what produces the apathy, who hasn’t felt this way at some point. On some occasions words are superfluous; something as simple as a gesture can tell so many stories, have so many accomplices, and hide as many secrets as we can imagine. Flat, striking colors emphasize this clear and direct message. This work is shipped in a ready-to-hang cardboard box.

María Burgaz (1970) knew from a very young age that art was her calling. She began her training at the School of Decorative Arts in Madrid, and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid, specializing in Painting, in 1993. Later she completed her studies at FIT in New York.

Winner of competitions such as the Wellington Foundation, Professional Football Foundation, Women and Society, Iberdrola-UEX, UNED, Eugenio Hermoso, Gran Casino de Torrelodones… her work, in addition to being part of the collections of these institutions, also appears in the collections of town halls such as Gibraleón, Valdemoro, Martos, Horche, and the Alicante Provincial Council…

She has held dozens of solo and group exhibitions both in Spain and abroad, and her work is also found in numerous private collections worldwide. Her hardworking, enthusiastic temperament has led her to participate in all kinds of projects and to collaborate with designers, writers, and anyone who allows her to express everything she carries inside. Her work always reveals the stage she is living, her vitality and her particular sense of humor and way of understanding life, always with a mastery of techniques that she combines and juxtaposes to create unique paintings of great narrative and technical richness.

Her works always include a certificate of authenticity, and when they are canvas works they are shipped rolled in a rigid tube for greater safety.
