In an open automatic photo booth overlooking the urban night, a woman with a platinum bob and a ROCK t-shirt sits on the chrome stool, legs crossed, jeweled stilettos, a direct and cold gaze. At her feet, a black cat watches. The neon sign “Photos — Completed in 3 minutes” looms above the scene.
She isn’t waiting for her photos. She’s waiting for something else — or she isn’t waiting for anything at all, which is even more unsettling. The Yack imprisons a character in a space of a few square centimeters and makes it something enormous. The amber light inside the booth against the city’s absolute black creates a paradoxical intimacy — she is exposed to everyone and yet utterly alone. The cat knows.

Le Yack, a rising French pop and street art artist. Alexandre Pelletier, known as Le Yack, was born in 1972 in Tours. During his studies, he joined the Olivier de design school ESAD in Orléans. Former art director in publishing and on the web. Instagram @leyack45. He is shown in a network of about forty galleries in France, Germany, Belgium, the United States.
