Description from the seller
Oil by Jean Claude Quilici. "Les Roches Blanches aux Baux".
Jean-Claude Quilici was born in Marseille in 1941. He studied at the School of Fine Arts, where he discovered the masters of Provençal painting. His painting here follows the aesthetic lineage of Provençal artists. However, Jean-Claude Quilici does not depict Provence alone, but all the landscapes he admires and which inspire him, as he travels: United States, Spain, Morocco…
Jean-Claude Quilici first exhibited in 1958. This was followed by national renown. The artist received numerous prizes, such as the "special mention" from the Jury at the Grand Prize for Painting of the Avignon Festival. The recognition he enjoys then crosses borders: he has exhibited many times in the United States and then in Japan. During his career, he also completed public commissions, notably for the University of Corte and the Marseille Metro. In 1997, the artist created the sets for the opera "Mireille" by Gounod for a coproduction of the Marseille Opera and the Bordeaux Opera.
