Description from the seller
FRUTAS DEL SUR is a 70x100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. This still life celebrates the luminous abundance of the Mediterranean through a simple yet powerful gathering of citrus fruits and pomegranate. Arranged on white plates that cleanly cut their shapes, the fruits seem to radiate freshness: golden lemons, fiery oranges, juicy mandarins and the deep red of a halved pomegranate introducing a note of intensity almost sensual.
The checkered background table provides geometric structure and domestic order, while the turquoise surface on which the plates rest fills the scene with a refreshing clarity. Everything in the composition suggests sunny kitchen, late breakfast, freshly visited market; everyday life turned into visual pleasure through color.
Beyond its simple appearance, the work engages a sophisticated balance between circular forms, open cuts and temperature contrasts. The cool whites of the ceramics amplify the heat of the fruits, and violet shadows give them volume and tactile presence. The brushwork, loose but controlled, avoids hyperrealism to preserve a vibrant painterly quality.
“Frutas del sur” is an ode to the elemental: to the humble luxury of ripe fruit, to the color of the family table and to the beauty that dwells in everyday objects when the light makes them extraordinary. A fresh, cheerful painting, deeply Mediterranean.
