The work is inspired by the eponymous poem by Taras Hryhorovytch Shevchenko (Ukrainian: Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko) (Moryntsi, March 9, 1814 - Saint Petersburg, March 10, 1861) who was a writer, poet, painter, draftsman and humanist from present-day Ukraine. His literary legacy is considered the beginning of modern Ukrainian literature and gave a very important impetus to the emergence of the modern Ukrainian language.
