Description from the seller
RECOGIENDO FLORES is a 70x100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. This work evokes the luminous delicacy of a countryside day paused in a fleeting moment. A young woman dressed in white moves among blossoming fields, holding a basket brimming with freshly cut flowers, while in the other hand she carries a parasol that barely appears at the lower edge of the composition. Her serene, almost abstracted gesture suggests that we are not witnessing a simple pastoral scene, but a moment of quiet intimacy with nature.
The landscape unfolds on gentle hills, green meadows, and violet patches that recall lavender fields or wildflowers in full bloom. In the background, a bluish line of mountains and water adds depth and freshness, building an atmosphere of temperate summer. The light seems to envelope everything with an impressionist softness, and every visible brushstroke contributes to that sense of breeze, fragrance, and light movement.
The female figure, with her flowing dress and hat adorned, nods to the classical iconography of rural strolls from the late 19th century, where the woman appears integrated with the garden as a symbol of grace, contemplation, and fleeting beauty. However, the vigorous brushwork and the free chromatic treatment give it a contemporary reading, less nostalgic and more vibrant.
“Recogiendo flores” speaks of the pleasure of the simple: walking slowly, bending toward the earth, filling a basket with what blossoms for one day. It is a painting about the discreet abundance of the countryside and about the intimate connection between human figure and landscape, where each color seems to breathe under the warm late-afternoon light.
