Pancho Porto (Santiago de Compostela, 1988), began his training in the specialty of artistic carpentry at the Antonio Failde center in Ourense. In this school he had his first contact with disciplines such as carving, drawing, or modeling, and what is more important, with workshop work.
Later he enrolled at the Mestre Mateo School of Arts and Trades in Santiago de Compostela, where he studied what will long be his main discipline: sculpture. It is at this school where he begins to work with materials that will be basic in his work, such as steel or clay. Alongside, Porto continues his self-directed study and investigates other materials such as bronze or resins and their multiple uses and finishes, leaning toward the use of bronze and steel as the definitive materials for his works.
After this initial training phase, he decides to set up his studio on the banks of the Sarela river, very close to where he was born. It is here that he begins his personal theoretical and practical research into the relationship between the materials used in each work and the message they convey. This leads him to seek new proposals when communicating and narrating his story. Since then, this has been the common thread of his works, endowing the whole body of his work with complexity and depth, with themes that touch both the social sphere and his personal experiences.
