Rafa López's mixed-media sculpture on wood titled 'Yellow Into the Pop - No Reserve', made in Spain, is 25 cm wide, 22 cm high and 10 cm deep, with polychromed wood, hand-signed on the base and in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
In "Milagrito into the pop", Rafa López elevates an everyday utilitarian object to the category of artistic piece, granting it a new aesthetic dimension through irony and the visual language of Pop Surrealism. This sculpture is a reflection on domesticity and consumer society, where a common cleaning item is transformed into a visual totem full of energy and dynamism.
Artwork analysis:
The piece plays with the recognizable silhouette of a spray bottle, but strips it of its original function to turn it into an exercise in form and color. López uses the central void —a hole in the wooden body— to break the object's solidity, allowing the surrounding space to become part of the sculpture. The chromatic composition, divided between the vibrant blue body and the intense red head, creates a high-impact visual contrast typical of Pop aesthetics.
Technically, the work is an impeccable example of mixed media on wood. The artist employs thick black lines of neo-expressionist character to define the contour and details, adding graffiti and bubbles that suggest the liquid content in a playful way. The finish on the natural wood base not only provides stability but also underscores the piece's artisanal nature amid the industrial production of the object it represents.
