Notes about the artist
Concetto Pozzati was one of the central figures of Italian Pop Art and the New Figurative. A professor at the Academy of Fine Arts of Bologna and a participant in numerous editions of the Venice Biennale (1964, 1972, 1982) and Documenta in Kassel, Pozzati managed to fuse pop irony with a cultivated quotation of the history of art. This 1966 work belongs to his most iconic period, characterized by the decomposition of everyday objects transformed into monumental and surreal icons.
