Oil on canvas, signed, in an imposing and elegant period frame
Dimensions: 85 x 74 cm including frame
Canvas: 61 x 50 cm
Ideal for collecting and investment
Paul Descelles, born in Raon-l'Étape (Vosges) on 22 March 1851 and died in Saint-Dié on 5 July 1915, is a French painter. Initially he painted decorations for a ceramic factory in Raon-l'Étape, where his father already worked; he later became known for his enamel portraits, but he also painted on canvas and produced illustrations for several magazines. His works were exhibited in Paris and he won several medals in the provinces.
The work is presented in good conservation condition with possible signs of aging. Some restorations on the front of the painting are present, visible on the back of the canvas (see photos)
