Description from the seller
Due to his unconventional lifestyle, Anton Heyboer belonged to the most eccentric Dutch artists of the past decades. His turbulent life was reflected in five marriages. He also described himself as 'the Robin Hood of the art world', referring to his high artistic output. Heyboer trained as a mechanical engineer. After World War II he began drawing, though still in a traditional style. Between 1954 and 1957 he developed his own philosophical framework on the basis of which his abstract artworks arose. Yet there are always figurative elements present in his paintings and etchings. Heyboer also clarified the themes of his work with texts, in which human relationships often play a role.
