Description from the seller
Pieter Vierhout, (1957, in Almelo)
Paintings, such as landscapes, river-, forest-, and city-scapes.
They display, in painterly terms, a single naturally appearing composition.
All captured in their local color tones—ranging from the fresh green of the Dutch meadows, the vivid color palette of the Mediterranean sea area to the softly tempered light in Provence. Atmosphere and color are the most important elements in his work.
His painting technique is mastered; it is admirable how Pieter Vierhout continually seeks the right color touch and rhythm in handling the brushstroke and the palette knife; this gives the painting a distinctive punctuation. Bold and expressive in approach.
All in all, they are atmospheric and colorful paintings in which light receives a special emphasis. It conveys an impressionistic feel.
Pieter Vierhout gladly lets himself be inspired by the landscape, including bodies of water, which testifies to a wholly individual viewpoint.
He continues along the path of abstraction, whereby recognizability is not compromised. That may seem strange in our neo-figurative era, but it does reflect a phase in the painter’s individual artistic development.
Pieter Vierhout says himself that he feels drawn to nature and is inspired by it using oil paint. He himself finds it nice to exaggerate situations a bit. It must be strong in composition with brighter color than reality.
Pieter studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Groningen.
Sheet size: 30 x 21.5 cm. Inside dimensions of the mat: 29 x 21 cm.
