Description from the seller
Karl Lagerfeld
Double self-portrait
2013
Karl Lagerfeld photographed by himself.
Holding a portrait of himself!
Black and white digital prepress print on satin RC paper
Medium resolution, archive digital print. Later print.
Annotations and labels on the back.
Format: 27.1 x 18.4 cm.
In very good overall condition.
Presented on a white passe-partout card 30 x 24 cm.
The man with Chanel's golden hands had an inspired eye. Karl Lagerfeld, a genius designer, was also a talented photographer. A "maker of images" to use his own definition, perhaps closer to his first love, drawing. For Lagerfeld, photography was a passion, not a hobby. His portraits were used for the house's advertisements on Rue Cambon, and his landscapes were exhibited at the Maison européenne de la Photographie, as with Cartier-Bresson or an Avedon.
