Description from the seller
CONCEPT OPERA:
The Spinner
oil on primed cardboard 20x20 cm.
The spinner spun the wool
In a workshop with unhealthy air
When it wasn’t good outside
And inside people suffered hardships too
Light and running water were certainly missing
Hard work accompanied you
Then you would come home every evening
And with your loved ones you talked for hours
Family relationships are what really mattered
Not the clothes or beauty in front of people

NOTIZIE SULL'ARTISTA
Laura Muolo, born in 1975, a Milanese by birth and a Rimini native by adoption. She began approaching art as a self-taught artist in 2013. Her starting medium is graphite, through which she immediately seeks realism in faces, while later turning to other media such as pastel and painting.
She participates in many group exhibitions in Italy and internationally and also shows her works in important Italian museums. Her works are part of several private collections worldwide. Four solo exhibitions so far. She collaborated on the cover of a poetry book in 2015 and on the cover of a philosophy book in 2023.
Winner and finalist in several artistic competitions, nationally and internationally.
Laura describes her work as follows: “I favor oil painting for its reflective nature: it allows me to build the image step by step, changing, smoothing, perfecting. Sometimes I use pastel on cardboard to capture the essence of the subject quickly, in a direct and instinctive way. My style is realistic, but my painting tells inner worlds, hidden emotions and stories to decipher.
My works move between dreamlike landscapes and figures immersed in their thoughts, accompanied by shadows that reveal what is not seen: desires, fears, memories. Each scene is born from photographs of young subjects and takes shape through symbols, objects and animals that give voice to a memory or a deep feeling. Painting, for me, is a journey into the dimension of the unsaid.”
Laura collaborates with the Ranarossa galleries of Modena and LoyeloArtGallery of Volterra
