This colorful lithograph titled “Gelderland” is a work by Corneille (1922–2010), one of the co-founders of the CoBrA movement (along with, among others, Karel Appel and Constant). His work is characterized by vivid colors, playful shapes and recurring themes such as birds, women and exotic landscapes.
This lithograph, printed in 2004, is limited to 200 copies and is in excellent condition. The work has never been framed, which has kept the colors particularly fresh.
Corneille’s art remains beloved worldwide for its expressive style and optimistic appearance — Gelderland is a fine example of his late, mature period in which color and imagination are central.
