Description from the seller
Oil on canvas
Measurements: 55 x 46 cm
This work presents a male figure in a posture of intense introspection and vulnerability. The gesture —with the hand partially covering the face— suggests an inner conflict, a tension between the exposure of the body and the concealment of identity.
The treatment of color is particularly noteworthy: the skin is built through a vibrant palette of pinks, greens and yellows that breaks with traditional realism and adds an almost electric emotional dimension. The monochromatic violet background reinforces the sculptural presence of the body, isolating it in a psychological space more than a physical one.
The brushwork, soft but deliberate, models volume with contemporary sensitivity, while the composition emphasizes the curved line of the torso, creating a sense of contained movement.
Together, the work dialogues with themes such as identity, male fragility and the tension between the intimate and the visible, becoming a deeply evocative and current piece.
Artist: Lisbet Cuellar with a degree in Theater Arts in the Scenic Design profile, at the ISA (Instituto Superior de Arte), Cuba
Other studies: introductory course in Plastic Arts, Centro Experimental de las Artes Visuales 'Antonio Díaz Peláez', Havana, Cuba
