Vova Titov is an Estonian born artist with a degree in interior design from the prestigious Herzen University in St. Petersburg. His paintings, sculptures and drawings are all one of a kind, hand-crafted and have been sold internationally, with some making their way into the homes of Hollywood directors. His art is represented by the Saatchi Gallery, with regular auctions on Catawiki.
"three bottles"A classic still life, but filtered through the prism of Cubism and dissected into its components, like a mechanism.
Three vessels are hinted at in the composition, but not directly presented. The central form is tall, with a narrow neck and wide base, the most monumental, almost totemic. The left figure is squat, flesh-pink, almost organic. The right figure is slender, bluish-gray, with a rounded shoulder, the most graceful of the three. Each exists in its own space and yet is connected to the others by a single table-pedestal below.
The horizontal plane of the table, a rare literal element, holds the entire structure together, preventing it from crumbling. It is the earth, the stage, reality.
The palette is calm and noble: dusty blue, olive, ocher, pink-flesh, deep black in the gaps between the forms. Two brown circles of the cork or bottom are symmetrically placed like dots at the end of a sentence.
