Jacques YANKEL- 1920-2020
* Born in 1920 in Paris, Jacques Yankel is a French painter and lithographer belonging to the second School of Paris. He grew up near the artist colony La Ruche, his family later moved to Montrouge before returning to settle in the Montparnasse district. Jacques Yankel was refused admission to the École des Arts appliqués and to the École des Beaux-Arts of Paris. In 1949, he was hired by the Ministry of Colonies for cartography missions in French West Africa.
